The Palm House, Edinburgh Botanical Gardens
The fossilised tree lying on the ground beside the Palm house was found at Craigleith Quarry, the same quarry where the stone for the Palm house came from. It is the largest plant fossil in Scotland at some 10.5m long. It would have been part of a swamp forest around 330 million years ago.
