The Henry Bell Monument, Bowling
Erected in 1838 in memory of Henry Bell (1767-1830) the designer of the first Steam ship to be built on the Clyde, The Comet.  In 1812 Bell inaugurated a regular passenger steamer service between Glasgow, Greenock and Helensburgh, the first commercial steam passenger service in Europe.
