Glasgow Underground Railway Carraige
When opened in 1896 Glasgow Underghround was the worlds first cable hauled subway system, power by a steam engine. This gripper carraige was built in 1901 and is painted in its 1935 livery. The system was converted to a 600V DC third rail system in 1935 and this carraige remained in service until 1977. There are only doors on one side because all 15 stations in the underground have central platforms.
