Dunnad Hill Fort, South of Kilmartin Glen

Dunnad fort stands on a natural outcrop of rock close to Moine Mhor. Its strategic position has meant it has been used as natural fort at different periods of time. It is thought to have been the place where the Dalriadic Kings were inaugurated. This picture shows a rock cut basin in the forground and a stone carved footprint on the flat rock behind it (see inset). These are thought to have been used for ritual purposes during inauguration ceremonies.
