Military Port 2, Cairnryan
Built between 1941 and 1943 its purpose was to replace the docks of Glasgow if they were bombed.  There was 1.5 miles of dock, the pier on the left hand side has since been demolished.  The dock was never needed for its original purpose but was used to bring in American equipment and troops.  After the surrended it was used as a place to moor the U-boat fleet before they were scuttled in deep water.
