Pluscarden Abbey, near Elgin
Pluscarden is a Roman Catholic Benedictine monastery which was founded in 1230.  The reformation in Scotland saw the Priory decline until by 1680 it was partly a ruin.  Some restoration took place in the 19th century but it wasn't until 1948 that a full restoration program took place.  The Abbey can be visited by the public.
