Winter sun at Loch Katrine

Loch Katrine is one of the main sources of drinking water for the City of Glasgow. The Loch Katrine Scheme was opened by Queen Victoria on October 14th 1859. The level of the loch was raised by four feet and an aqueduct 26 miles long with a fall of just 10 inches per mile was constructed to Milngavie, on the north side of Glasgow.
