Loch Doon gunnery school
The Loch Doon Gunnery School was built in 1916 at vast expense as an area for aerial gunnery training. An airfield and hangers were constructed along with target ranges. The Airfield had to be abandoned due to an inability to drain the bog it stood on. These concrete blocks are all that remain of what was said to be a monorail for carrying workers and material.
