K13 Memorial, Elder Park
K13 was a first World War Submarine that sank during sea trials in January 1917 on Gareloch on the Clyde. There were 53 sailors and 14 directors and employees of the Fairfleids Ship yard where it was built on board. 46 were eventually saved after several rescue attempts. The significance of the monument being in Elder park is that the former Fairfield Ship yard is the red building you can see across the road.
