Dalzell House, Motherwell
Said to have been one of the finest mansion houses in the Scottish lowlands. The present structure dates from a 15th century tower house which can still be seen in the centre and has been greatly added to over the years. The largest extension was in 1857, the internal carving and plasterwork done at the time was said to be without parallel. Today the house is divided into private flats and lies within Dalzell park.
