Completed in 1725 this was one of four such Barracks built around the highlands after the Jacobite uprising of 1715. As it turned out they didn't entirely succeed in their job of suppressing the Jacobites but the second rebellion in 1745 also ended in failure for the Jacobite cause. Map location.
