Mallaig Harbour
Until the arrival of the Railway Mallaig was a very small fishing village. The opening of the railway in 1901 transformed Mallaig to what we see today. The Steamer pier was constructed to coincide with the arrival of the Railway meaning that Skye became accessible from Glasgow and Edinburgh by rail. The Islands of Run and Eigg can be seen in the distance Map location.
