Crinan Basin, Crinan Canal

Opened in 1801 the Crinan Canel crosses the 9 miles of land between Ardrishaig on Loch Fyne and Crinan at the Sound of Jura. It significantly cuts the long journey around sothern tip of the Kintyre Peninsula. The canal is still in use and has recently had a major refurbishment.
