Bothwell is Scotland's most imprssive 13th century Caslte. The wars of independance meant that the only part fully completed was the circular Keep and this was badly damaged during one of the seiges. In the 14th century the castle was aquired by the Black Douglases who rebuilt it more or less as it is seen today.
