Helmut Shroder of Dunlossit II, Islay
The germanic name of the Islay lifeboat seems at first rather odd. The story behind it is that it was named after the father of billionaire Bruno L Schroder who donated the lifeboat to the RNLI in memory of his father. The Schroders own Dunlossit Castle which is just above Port Askaig where the lifeboat is based.
