Ardgowan House, Inverkip
Built for Sir Robert Shaw Stewart between 1798 and 1801. The Architect, William Cairnross, had been an assistant to Robert Adam at Culzean and if you look at the photos of Culzean you can see there is a strong influence. The symmetry has been somewhat spoilt by the later addition of a conservatory in 1904. The Shaw Stewart family still lives in the house today.
