Police Launch at Crinan Canal basin
"Strathclyde", the Strathclyde Police Launch, comissioned in 2004 after serving for 21 years as the RLNI Penlee lifeboat.  The Marine Police Unit was formed by Glasgow City Police in 1936 and continued until 1991 when it was axed for financial reasons.   In 2004 it was decided to re-instate the unit, the Strachclyde Police area does after all cover hundreds of miles of coastal waters.
