Duncarnock Hill seen from the Neilston Pad
The Cragie, as it is more commonly known, is a classic example of a "crag and tail" feature formed during the last ice age. With a depth of up to a kilometre, the ice flowed south where it met the resistance of the extinct volcanic plug of The Cragie and thus flowed over the top creating the gentle slope on the southern side of the hill.
