Peterhead harbour on a foggy summer morning
A young Herring Gull waits to see if the morning har will burn off.   Peterhead was established in 1587 as a planned settlement.  The harbour was built in 1593.  Even today Peterhead is an important port for the landing of white fish, the total tonnage landed at Peterhead in 2004 was 136,000 tonnes, 30% of which was white fish.
