Lord Roberts Memorial, Kelvingrove Park
Paid for by subscription by the people of Glasgow in 1916 this impressive statue stands at the top of Kelvingrove Park looking west towards the University.  Field Marshal Roberts (1832-1914) was the man who on several occassions 'saved the Empire' or in other words subdued uprisings, notably the Indian uprising during which he was awarded the Victorian Cross when aged only 26.
