Opened in 1986 to replace the original building on the north side of the river. No expense was spared, it cost £30m at the time. Stone was brought from as far as Norway. The design is such that you might think they envisaged a complete breakdown of law and order in Glasgow, it has a deep moat all the way round. The tower blocks at the rear are what replaced the 'slums' of the Gorbals in the 1960's. At the time they were an improvement but today such dense housing is not being built in Glasgow. Map location
