Hopetoun House, South Queensferry
Hopetoun House was built between 1699 and 1701 and designed by William Bruce. The central part you see here is the original house. It was later greatly extended between 1721 and 1748 by William Adam. Today the home and grounds are open to the public. It is without doubt one of Scotland's finest stately homes and well worth a visit. Map location.
