A view of Langbank from Milton
Looking south across the Clyde towards Langbank. The Green marker towers you see are what is left of The Long Dyke, an ingenious 18th century piece of engineering designed by John Golbourne to scour out a deeper navigation channel in the River Clyde. By narrowing the main flow of water it increased the flow rate thus increasing the natural scouring power of the water to clear silt and keep the channel deeper.
