The ruins of Loch Doon Castle. Built in the late 13th century it originally stood on an island in Loch Doon. The castle was moved from the Island in the early 1930's as it would have been lost under the water when a dam was built for the Galloway Hydro Scheme that raised the water level by about 30ft. There was a later 16th century tower house attached to the castle but this was not rebuilt.
