Founded in 1964, Glasgow's Museum of Transport is amongst the most popular transport museums in the UK. It attracts half a million visitors a year and as with all Glasgow Council museums, is completely free. It started life on the south side of Glasgow in an old tram depot but moved here to Kelvin hall in the 1980s. In 2011 it will move again to a purpose built building at the clyde where it will link up with the Glenlee tall ship.
