Entrance hall, Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, Glasgow
The entrance hall that greets the visitor to what must be Glasgows most impressive Museum and Art Gallery. It opened its doors in 1901 having cost over £250,000 to complete. In 2001 funding of £27.9m was raised for a major restoration of the building which started in 2003 and was completed by 2006. More space was created by opening up the basement and building a storage area off site, the end result is a world class museum..... which thanks to Glasgow Council, remains free to all.
