A view of Cramond Island from the end of the causeway. At low tide it is possible to wallk out to the Island but at high tide it is covered by several feet of water so you have to get your timing right between tides. The concrete pillars along the right hand side of the causeway were part of a Boom Defence system on the river Forth built during the second World War. Map location.
