The hopetoun Monument, East Lothian
Often referred to locally as the Garleton Monument after the nearby farm.  It was erected in 1824 in memory of John Hope, 4th Earl of Hopetoun (1765–1823).  The tower is 29M high with 132 narrow dark steps leading to the viewing gallery.  There is no door so it is open to climb to the top any time, you are rewarded with great views across the river forth and surrounding countryside.
