Blackness Castle, Blackness, River Forth
Blackness dates from the 15th century but has had many uses during its life time.  This view is of the ammunition pier that was added in 1870 when the castle the central ammunition depot for Scotland.  The pier allowed ammunition to be delivered by sea.  Many changes were made to the castle for its new role but those changes were removed when the site became an ancient monument in the late 1920's.
