Wood carving of David Douglas, Dawyck Botanical Garden David Douglas was born is Scone in Perthshire in 1799 and became a renowned Botanist and plant hunter. Some of the plants here at Dawyck were brought back from foreign travels by Douglas. The Douglas Fir was named after David Douglas.
