There are several Tarberts around Scotland, the name derives from the Gaelic "Tairbeart", meaning 'draw boat' which equates to an 'isthmus' today. That is a narrow strip of land where two lochs meet, in this case, East Loch Tarbert and West Loch Tarbert. This view over Tarbert is dominated by Tarbert Church, dating from 1775. Map location.
