Dinvin Motte, South Ayrshire
Located just off the road from Girvan to Pinmore this the best preserved ring ditch hill fort in the south of Scotland. It consists of a Motte and and two large ring ditches. In this photo the Motte is on the left with the two circular ditches on the right. It is thought to be around 2,500 years old and would have had wooden stockades on the top of each earth mound. Even today parts of these ditches are still very deep with steep walls.
