Loch Libo lies to the west of Neilston on the low road to Uplawmoor. In the 18th and 19th century coal was mined from pits on the south side of the Loch, where this photo is taken from. The coal seam goes under the Loch and in 1793 water broke through into the pit drowning at least 6 men, their bodies were never recovered.
