Scott Lithgow shipyard, Greenock, 1989
Scott Lithgow was formed in 1967 by the merger of two companies but in 1977 was nationalised and came under British Shipbuilding. By the 1980's it was working on Semi-submersables for the North Sea but was suffereing from huge losses. The yard finally closed in 1993 and today is a retail park. The crane you see could lift 225 tons and was a local landmark. Map location.
