Rosyth Dockyard, River Forth
Built in 1909 when the Royal Navy was building up its fleet to compete with Germany. Today it is government owned but run by a contractor. This photo taken in 2010 from the roof of Hopetoun House shows the 7 decomissioned Nuclear Submarines, 4 Polaris boats and 3 attack submarines. Towards the right is the Aircraft Carrier, HMS Illustrious, undergoing what will almost certainly be her last major refit.
