This unusual photograph is of a sunshine hours recorder in the grounds of Chatsworth house. The photo has been inverted so the reflection is the right way up. It consists of a glass sphere surrounded by a strip of card marked with hours of the day. Any sunlight is focused through the sphere on to the paper creating burn marks when the sun is out.
