This line is next to the track operated by the Doon Valley Railway. It would originally have carried on all the way to Pennyvennie coal put near Dalmellington but in recent times ended at the open cast mine near Burnton. This mine has since closed so although the track is still in place it hadn't been used for several years when this photo was taken in 2017. Map location.
