Vanguard Class Submarine, River Clyde
One of the Royal Navy's 4 Vanguard Class Submarines heads down the Clyde for a 6 week patrol. Although they can carry up to 16 Trident D5 missiles they currently put to sea with 'only' 8 and up to 40 warheads. The equivalent destructive power of about 400 Hiroshima weapons. Dunoon Pier is in the background, note the armed fast launch at the rear trying to keep up, in total 4 boats, including a police launch, escort each Submarine out into the firth.
