The oldest parts of the castle date from the 13th century. Fyvie was the site of an open air court held by Robert the Bruce but after 1390 it ceased being a Royal stronghold and fell in to the possession of 5 successive families. Each new owner added a towesr, the last one being built in 189 by the Leith family. Map location.
