Brodie Castle

The Brodie family have been associated with this area since the 11th century. The earliest part of the castle you see today dates from 1567 and is the tower on the left hand side. In 1645 the Castle was badly damaged by an attack by the Marquis of Montrose. In 1824 the 22nd Laird of Brodie added what is known as the Burns extension on the right, designed by the architect William Burns. Today the castle is own by the National Trust for Scotland and is open to visitors.
