Duffus Castle, Moray
One of the finest examples of a Motte and Bailey Castle in Scotland.  The Castle was in use from the 12th till the 18th century when it was abandoned.  The first Castle was a wooden structure which was replaced in the 14th century by the stone castle you see today. This view shows the main tower andpart of the curtain wall.
