Over looking Faslane base from the North west side of Gareloch

This view gives an idea of the size of the ship lift building, the equivalent of 11 stories high. The ship lift is the largest in Europe at 615 metres long and 25 metres wide it is capable of lifting 28,000 tones. In the distance the river clyde can be seen with the town of Greenock on the opposite side of the river.
