The Wallace Yew Tree
The Wallace Yew is located behind the Wallace Monument in Elderslie, there is some debate anouts age but it is said to be 300 years old. The elements and acts of vandalism have left it in a sorry state as can be seen in this picture taken in 2004, worse was to come in 2005 when a storm split the tree. Cuttings have been taken to preserve it but some say its best left alone as Yew trees are known be able recover from such damage in time.
