Former NATO Boom defence depot, Fairlie
Taken over after WWII by Nato as a depot for maintaining the numerous moorings around the Clyde.  It is also said that during time of war a steel submarine net would have been place across the clyde from the main land to the Great Cumbrae and then from the Cumbrae to Bute.  The base was closed in 2003 and sold to a private owner who uses it as a boat repair yard.
