Renfrew Airport
Across the road from a supermarket in Renfrew is this memorial that you could easily miss. It marks the importance that Renfrew once had in the development of aviation in Scotland. In WWI the flying core had a base here. The first Air Ambulance flew from here and in 1933 it became the first municipal airport in Scotland. It closed in 1966 because there was no room to expand. Abbotsinch then went on to become Glasgows main and only Airport.
