Scone Palace and Moot Hill

On the left is the 19th century Scone Palace built for the Earl of Mansfield. On the right is what is more commonly known as Moot Hill, the crowning place of Scottish Kings. It also has been called Boot hill and in Pictish times was referred to as the Hill of Credulity (hill of belief). Robert the Bruce famously declared himself King of Scots on Moot Hill in 1306, the last Coronation was that of Charles II as King of Scots in 1651, some 9 years before he was restored to the English throne.
