The Lion Rock, Great Cumbrae

One of the Great Cumbrae's landmarks, with a bit of imagination you can see the outline of a Lion, its more obvious from further away. This is a natural 'Dyke' produced by a massive plate of vertical volcanic rock and there are several examples throughout the Island. In recent years the rock has crumbled and some attempts have been made to stabilise it. Map Location
