USS Simon Lake, Holy Loch, late 1980s
The USS Simon Lake (AS33) was a Submarine Tender of the US Navy, launched in 1964, she served as a support vessel for the US Navy's Polaris Missile Submarines. She is pictured here some time between 1987 and 1992 in the Holy Loch on the Clyde. From 1964 until 1992 the US Navy had a permanent presence in the Holy Loch. The Simon Lake was the last ship to be based there.
