BUTEC range control building, Applecross

BUTEC is the British Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre and is run by a commercial company on behalf of the Royal Navy. The range covers the Inner Sound between Raasay and the Applecross Peninsula. It consists of sea bed sensors that are used to test the 'stealth' of Royal Navy Submarines, there is also a torpedo test range. Map location.
