The Laggan Dam was built across the River Spean in 1934 as part of the Aluminium smelter hydro scheme for Fort William. Water from the dam is carried to Loch Treig through 3 miles of tunnel. The water goes from there through another 15 miles of pipe to the power house at Fort William. Map location.
